Our Story
My youngest daughter, Abby, was playing volleyball in high school and for a travel club team when she introduced us to açaí bowls. She loved them as a light meal or snack before and during tournaments—they weren’t too filling and offered great health benefits.
While enjoying a bowl in Ocean City during one of her tournaments, we realized there wasn’t really anywhere in Frederick to get a good açaí bowl. That sparked the first conversation about starting a food trailer and what it might look like. Over the next few months, we had several discussions, but the timing just didn’t feel right.
Fast forward to late 2023—Abby’s older sister, Stephanie, blessed us with our first grandchild. Then, in early 2024, after returning to work from maternity leave, she lost her job due to a corporate takeover. As she weighed her options—going back to work full-time, part-time, or staying home—we saw an opportunity.
We decided it was finally the right time to launch the food trailer. It would give Stephanie the flexibility to work and still be present for her son.
So we got to work—planning, buying, building, and navigating permits. And on August 10th, 2024, Açaí for Me officially opened for business.
